Multi-lab Stained and Multi-scanner Scanned Sarcoma WSI Dataset

This computational dataset (a study of sarcomas and their mimics) was designed to investigate staining and scanning variability. It was made up of 1,243 WSI. For each of the 14 tumour subtypes studied, a case with representative histology for each was selected and serial sections (4 um) were cut from a single tissue block. One unstained slide per case was distributed to 30 different National Health Service (NHS) hospital laboratories, where local teams performed H and E staining using their clinical laboratory protocols. The stained slides were returned and digitised using three slide scanners: Leica Aperio GT 450, Hamamatsu NanoZoomer S360, and 3D-Histech Pannoramic 1000 (see details in Fig. 2 in our paper).
